"How is it with your soul today?"
Why is that the best question to ask someone?
Because it stops them in their tracks and makes them think about something we hardly ever consider, yet which has eternal ramifications. Even for someone who does not believe that we have a soul, it makes them realise we are interested in their deepest, core being. It's the most unsuperficial question that we can ask.

Ask them to tell you about their childhood. It will reveal a lot about them and how they developed into the personality they have (I believe!)
