....horror flick you saw that really gave you a genuine scare? Which scene, and why?

It's just my assumption that people who watch a lot of horror movies are desensitized and it takes alot to truly scare them. That's how it is for me, anyhow. I may be wrong. :)

well the last movie to invoke any type of emotion from me was probably Hostel...it didn't scare me but it did make me extremely grossed out when he cut the dude's achilles tendons...thats messed up

last time I was scared was probably when I saw the trailer for The Exorcism of Emily Rose...don't think I'll be seeing that movie anytime soon

The last horror or thriller flick I saw that was able to get a rise out of me was 'white noise'. The scariest part of that movie was when Keaton was in his little studio rewinding and replaying the static, and he saw his dead wife's face and voice, and he was so comforted by it, he pressed his face up against the screen. In a matter of seconds, 'the bad things' came yapping at him in like 15 different voices, it scared the s*it outta me. I loved it! I do believe that nowadays with the way movies are made and played out, a lot of horror fans are kind of desensitized by the big-bang gory effects that are genuinely over-used in todays movies. Back in the day a horror movie was made to be a horror MOVIE. Today, it's about blood and gore, and shocker effects. There's no plot, no storyline, no purpose, nothing intelligent at all. Which is probably why todays generation loves it so much and eats it all up, there is no necessity to think, and nothing that requires following a story, and since kids today lack the capacity to think, it works for them. White Noise was a great movie, I was surprised though at how much Keaton has changed since the 80's.

The remake of Aminittyville Horror. I love my horror movies, I am the person in the theater chearing for the bad guys. I almost cried when the "Hero's" died at the end of Devil's Rejects. So, this is a GREAT question, but REALLY hard to answer. I haven't had a good true scare in a long time, but I think the closet scene with the babysitter in this remake definately made me turn the lights on when I had to go to the bathroom that night. The ghost of Jodi freaked me out that whole movie.

I love horror movies and enjoy being scared. Gore doesn't bother me...what I like is the suspense and the unknown. I'm constantly on the look out for movies that will scare me.

I really like japanese/asian horror movies. "Ju-on" was very creepy...much more so than the remake, "The Grudge". That creepy girl is scary. The way she crawls down the stairs....relentless in her pursuit and scary looking. Other good movies were "The Eye" and "Phone". I haven't seen "Ringu" yet but I've heard it is scary.

I recently saw "When a Stranger Calls" and thought that was scary. There wasn't any gore and the violence was implied but I thought the way the movie was filmed and the clever use of atmosphere and shadows added a menacing element to the movie. I was scared when the Stranger was trying to get at the kids and the sitter when they were in the greenhouse/sunroom, and when he was trying to get out.

I've always been a fan or horror and slasher movies. I have an older brother who is into them too, guess that's where I get it from. When I was about 10, he was babysitting us and we watched one of the Jason movies. I was so scared, I couldn't sleep in my room. I ran down to my Moms room and stayed there with the lights on until she got home. On Halloween I watched Dawn of the Dead with my boyfriend. I was so freaked out that I left lights on when I went to bed and wouldn't let go of my boyfriend. The zombies were not like the ones in older movies...slow moving and stuff. These were like Super Zombies. I woke up to every little noise for a few days after that.

this might sound funny, but the last movie to scare me wasn't a horror flick at all. 'Horror' movies make me laugh more than anything else, but being a firefighter, Ladder 49 scared me because of how realisticly that could happen, and I personalized with it.

I don't know why White Noise affected me the way it did, but I was truly scared. The whole movie was so demonic I literally got rid of the movie (garbage) after I was done watching it.

Back in the day, ALIEN really scared me. I couldn't sleep because I thought I kept seeing those face huggers. The Grudge gave me an OK scare too. Creepy girl!!
