I am sick of news (?) items about specific celebrities that is a daily blitz on the media networks. I refuse to buy publications with these people on the cover. How do I keep their photos, news items off my Yahoo and off my computer?

Just get your news from more discerning sites.
If you are logged while you read from Google News it tracks your preferences and tends to display news items that match your record of interest.

Sorry, In yahoo you dont have such option to block the incoming message from a particular sender. But you can short out the problem only if you contact or email to yahoo customer service in your region along with the name of the sites from which the messages/photos are coming. Yahoo customer service will block the message/photos u'd not like to receive.
