I have built many computers for graphics artists. This is the card that I'm currently recommending and putting into machines:

Very decent price and much better suited for graphics work, as opposed to a card geared more towards gaming.

The video card IS required for rendering what you see on your monitor. For photo shop you don't need a gamer's top of the line type but you shouldn't use the very low end. Most low end computers have a video card built onto the motherboard and it's not necessary to purchase an upgraded card if you don't need one.

When I bought my last video card I bought the top of the line from the LAST generation which was better than the middle of the line of the new generation cards and much less expensive.

For anything graphics intensive, you'll need the video card. Photoshop, animation, and watching TV definitely all fit in that category. You definitely want the card. Integrated video sucks, because it uses your system memory and CPU power, which is also being used for everything else.

The video card is an essential component of any computer....you must have one in order to connect a monitor to your PC.

If you are using the world's top photo software (Photoshop) I think you should definitely invest in a quality graphics adapter (video cards).

If you do away with the video card, you're artwork will come out kind of dark.
