So there's no point buying her a present, but just in case she doesn't die, how can I put "I thought you'd be dead by now" nicely?

Get her a gift!

If she's dying, there can't be too many gifts you can give her.

If she dies, donate it to someplace or have it buried with her or take it back.

Sheesh

dont you think youre being mean? How could you put that nicely? You should pray that the woman who contributed to your being should live more even after christmas. Do you want people are in a funeral instead of being festive? No need to give her anything. Just be there and hold her hand and sit with her for a time.

There's also a possibility that you may be dead before Christmas; should everyone who bought you a gift return it in case you're not around? Maybe your grandmother still has time to change her will and cut you out of it.

So my mom started giving away her jewelry a couple of years ago, so there is no point in buying her jewelry anymore (which was one of my fav gifts to give her). So now she gets the newspaper and $$ for attending her "gym". Give your grandma something that she could actually use, like, an IOU to read the newspaper to her, play a game of cards or something like that!!!

The best gift you can give her is you spending time with her you could give her some flowers to brighten her room or house up or a plant or you could just be open and honest with her tell her your fears she will understand just love her and spend as much time with her that you can

Well, I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. It's definately rough to lose someone especially around the holidays. I would say to buy her something, but keep the reciept. If she doesn't make it to Christmas to recieve it, return it.
