If you are willing to pay, you should get 1&1 web hosting. It's about 3 dollars a month for about 20GB or 5 for about a 100GB. More then enough space for any web site. Also try freewebs if you want just free webspace, netfirms is also really good for free web hosting. I have there free service for that past 3 or 4 years and it's been running 99.9% of the time since then.

also if you have an always on broadband connection at home (like ntl etc) and you dont mind leaving your pc on, you can have as much web space as you can afford! web serving software like apache is free and runs happily on linux and windows, you can add anything you want to it like mysql etc which is free, and most open source cms are fairly easy nowadays so you dont even need to know much html (u just need someone to initially set it up for you instead). Alternatively there are hundreds of web hosters where you pay £x a month for simple web hosting - you pay more according to what you want, more space, db, programming lang like php etc. you simply design website at home and FTP it across to your web hosting solution provider.
