Read a book that just captures your whole imagination, and is so intriguing, especially when you start to create that mental imaginary picture of the characters in your head, by the way they are decribed in the book...only to be disapointed if a film is made out of the book and the characters just dont match up to what you had thought they should be? sometimes to read the book is much better than watching the film.......has this ever happened to you, and what was the book you read?

Yes...all the time! A film based on what you've read is never better than the book. A book captures your imagination and takes you places you are unable to go in a film. I would much rather read than spoil my adventure. Lord of the Rings was one of them for me.

Absolutely!! Every book I've read that has become a move afterward has had this effect. That's why, except for rare occaision, I refuse to see a movie based on a book I've read. Will spoil the whole thing. Our imaginations are very powerful and everyone's will have a different interpretation of how a book should look on the big screen. One example is the John Grisham books, another is the DaVinci Code, one always leaves the movie feeling like so much was left out. I don't think they intentionally skip parts when converting to film, its just that our emotions aren't in it like they were when we were reading!

Yes, I have. Years ago, on a rainy, cold day, I was looking for something to do. My dad suggested finding a book to read. So I went to the book shelf and found this book that was missing half the cover and had pages falling out of it. It was titled "For My Great Folly" by Thomas Costain. Well, I couldn't put it down. It's about this young Englishman in the 16th century who finds himself aboard a sailing ship fighting the Spanish. Almost felt like I was there with him. Come to find out, it was also a favorite of my dads when he was growing up and he informed me that there was a movie made that was based loosely on the book. Well, I made a point of watching the movie the first chance I got. I can't even remember the title of the movie, that's how disappointed I was in it. Such a shame that kids nowadays can't seem to find the same enjoyment from a good book.

Yes, yes, and YES!

Don't you just hate it when that happens? I like my imagination much more than the film. It ruins the whole thing for you.

The book was "The Outsiders".

Every Dracula movie -except the one with Gary Oldman, Hopkins and Reeves- but still not as good as the book
