In most cases, it is recommended to wait 3 months. This is because of the healing time required. If you just had a new baby, you probably would want to wait until you are completely healed.

that depends on the baby and parents. My daughter was 7lb 8oz and she was on the average line in her red book. however i know of babies being born a lot lighter or heavier than that! my step dad was 10lb and my cousin was about 4lb and i was born at 3lb!
i would say between 7-8lb is "normal" but as i said above it all depends.
