I Highly recommend that you get the transfer case (4X4 transmission as some call it) checked out as soon as possible. If that goes South while you are driving, you won't be anymore.
Emergency fix is to pull the front drive shaft out so that the front axle does not spin the transfer.
Wish I could have had good news for you.

As stated above your selector on the front axle is bad and stuck in 4X4 mode, the light flashing is a code telling you to fix it and catch your attention. Very easy repair if you have ramps or a lift. However the part is available only thru a dealership.

I am assuming you have a switch you turn for your 4 wheel drive.
what may be happening is the transfer case may be activating with out you physically putting it in to 4 wheel drive . i would try unplugging the electric motor on the transfer case and drive it and see if it still does it

Does it have the rush button, turn swap, or the floor lever to have interplay it into four wheel force? If its push button or the turn swap, the swap could be malfunctioning. i might take it in and get it fastened as I had a Chevrolet pickup do this and it engaged itself into 4 intense a pair of time because of the fact the swap became malfunctioning.
