I"m not a massive fan of shaking hands. And for a really bad and prejudice reason - I don't like shaking hands with people who gross me out, like overweight people or fat people. I know that this is REALLY awful of me and I shouldn't be this way but I just can't help it. I shouldn't be so judgemental. I don't like having physical contact with strangers generally but if they freak me out a bit - it's really hard....I haven't really found a way round it either which doesn't help the asker but I hope it helps to hear that you aren't the only person who feels like this.

It is manners to shake people's hands. Soap and water will remove the grime:)) I think it is much better than air-kissing or actually having to kiss someone i am not too familiar with. I walk around for ages wiping my mouth. Much better to shake hands, why not have a pack of baby-wipes or that new Vicks spray to wipe and disinfect your hands with. Good luck with all the hand-shaking, Heyyy wear gloves, never thought about that one:)))

I live in NYC, where everything you touch is filthy. I carry around a little bottle of waterless hand sanitizer and use it two or three times a day. If you're using it after shaking someone's hand, though, it's probably best to wait until they;re out of sight.

You are not alone, it is quite a common phobia. You can like people have said, carry hand spay with you. But people could take offence if they catch you washing your hands after shaking hands with them. You could try a Hypnotist.

just chill out man. just keep doing it and eventually you should forget about it. it sounds a bit obsessive compulsive. people are too clean these days anyway. at least it will strengthen ur immune system bro! besides, what are you scared of, what do you think will happen if they have dirty hands? also.. did you know desks have way more bacteria than most things? check this out: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3505414.stm

Just carry a bottle of hand sanitizer with you, and clean your hands when you get a minute alone. I carry one for when my hands had touched things I feel are dirty, and if I cannot wash before eating.

Just remember, we're all carrying germs, and whatever doesnt kill us makes us stronger. Just remember wash your hands before you eat, and hand-shakes wont be a problem.

Absolutely. Not just their hands either, most people are a load of unwashed, grimy sodomites. Hands being coughed-on, round their grotty ar*ses, picking their noses, in their filthy mouths, picking their spots and ears.... Yuuuch! Don't touch any part of any person whose standards of cleanliness you don't know if you can avoid it.

try and avoid thinking of how dirty people or your sorroundings are and concentrate on something else and see how that goes if not maybe by a bottle of dettol sanitizer and use it every few hours then your mind is at rest.
