I purchased many electonic items from an auction recently. I got them home and they stink of cigarette smoke. I can't actually "wash" or spray much of anything on them. They are a tv, laptop, cd's, etc etc. Any ideas on how to remove the odor?

The sun removes odors. It depends on the temperature where you live, of course, and the temperature outside, and the humidity, but you can definitely put the CDs in direct sunlight if it's below 90 degrees outside.

Since there is probably a surface residue of tar and goop from smoke, also use a damp cloth with some Cinch. I wipe all my electronics with that. Even the "business" side of CDs. Doesn't hurt them.

Don't try to cover it up with other smells. That won't last long.

1) I would suggest air out. Clean the exteriors with proper cleaning agents and let the TV and other electronics stay open in the balcony once you go out for the day, make sure they cannot be damaged by the rain.

2) Other idea would be to open the door to the balcony [depending on the area] and leave them in front of a fan.

3) Use incense in the room so you will cover cig smell with incense, but only after letting the electronics air dry.

You "can" wash your items, just not in the washing machine or with soap and water. Use rubbing alcohol and cotton balls. Do not let the cotton balls drip with the alcohol but make sure they are good and damp. It will take quiet a few of them if the items or really dirty. This is how I clean my computer and printer. I would not put the rubbing alcohol on the screen of the laptop. They make cd cleaners you can buy at movie rental stores and such places.

Actually you can spray liquids on them. You just have to give them time to dry before plugging them in. Oder Out would be a good way to rid them of smoke.
