should i buy a new printer w/ neg.photo reader or do i have to buy a driver only, if so what driver do i need ?

If you have many such negatives to convert it may be wisest to purchase a scanner like this one ( about $80 ) :

The alternative would be to take them to a local business services outlet & pay to have them converted for you. I guess you have to do the math & see what's best.

Personally. I would purchase a scanner like the one on the link, with capability to scan negatives. Perhaps even a higher end unit like this one:

Negatives can be scanned with a slide and negative scanner.

Check with your scanner manufacturer, and see if they offer an accessory for copying slides and negatives.
