here's a better question for you.. if a person is truly self-aware, how could they believe that things cannot exist that are beyond their comprehension? just because we cannot perceive or comprehend something, doesn't mean it does not exist.. maybe if we had the ability to take a peek into the 4th dimension we would come face to face with our creator.. how many dimensions can you perceive?

That depends on who's laws determine sanity or insanity, doesn't it? In America, christians are considered totally sane for believing that the Ten Commandments, on which they based their own Bill of Rights, were handed to a man... by a bush.

Any normal, rational person knows that all Jews, Christians and Muslims are DELUSIONAL- yet in most places that's not enough to be considered insane, because the ways it affects their interaction with the rest of the world are subtle.

You should not be surprised that FAITH overpowers reality with some frequency- that's really what faith is supposed to do.

Don't confuse sanity with intelligence or the degree of conformity to accepted social norms. Usually a disbelief in one thing requires blind faith in another. Reality remains unchanged wither or not your faith is based on religious doctrine or your faith is based on empirical data as a result of experimental methods of one kind or another. It is the perception of reality that changes depending on how one wishes to filter the information provided to him.

Sanity and faith are completely independant from each other. Having faith in a situation or person doesn't correlate with a person's sanity

I understand your concern. It would depend on what "reality" really is.

Some people think that "reality" is what they can see, touch, smell and taste : Sensation Thinking.
Some people think that "reality" is this, and more (with input added from the mind) : Intuition thinking

I can understand this may be difficult. But, both are correct.
Each one of us perceives "reality" based on how we think.
Hope this is helpful.

Sometimes logic doesn't cut it.....if things are bad and people feel they don't have control (or can't get control) sometimes they turn to the faith that things will all work out, no matter what. It sure beats sitting around depressed and making everyone around you miserable!

Who's to say faith and reality are at odds, and how could you prove that they would be?

THAT is the million dollar question! I agree! I think it is borderline crazy! People do not want to accept something once it is in their peanut. I sometimes think that they are not so much insane as retarded and cant grasp concepts and have to resort to something they know nothing or little about.
