In Blood Diamonds he polluted everthing by blowing so much stuff up. How much carbon monoxide goes into the atmosphere with big gasoline explosions and burning buildings. How much does the movie industry pollute?

No. If he were an ordinary hippie he wouldn't have the voice he does as an actor. He is using the name-recognition he got as an actor to have his voice heard on enviromental issues. That his job makes a few messes doesn't make him a hypocrite--he wasn't funding or directing the movie or its stunts.

You have no idea what damage was done or how/if it was cleaned up--but I doubt the little fires from the movie made a real impact on the environment. If they napalmed a rainforest like in Apocolypse Now I'd see your point, but what are you suggesting--no movies with explosions by anyone who cares for the environment?--it would be like asking hippies to give up their vw busses and start walking to Washington to protest wars and such--no one would make it and their point would never be made. Try to be less of a hater--you'll be happier for it.

First, I gotta say I LOVE the way you spelled the guy's name; so apt!

Beyond that, though, I think you're right in general; the movie industry gets lots of goodie-goodie press out of the green/conservation/environment issues, but in their daily lives, I don't think that many truly evidence walking the walk, however much air time talking the talk gains them. They'll impress me when they quit their self-indulgent lifestyles and actually do something productive for their fellow man; Newman and Winfrey impress me, to some extent. As far as DeCrappie is concerned, he's doubtless in search of publicity.

Here's another thought; how much responsibility do we bear as movie consumers? They make movies because movies make money; and I'll give you three guesses where (or rather, who) the money comes from.

Just my two cent's (and points) worth...

We all do what we can and I am sure he try to do what he can. To truly stop polluting the earth, we may have to turn off everything and do what our ancestors did way back in the stone age. No fuel, no electricity... So the best and least we can do is do what we can.

Movies are very wasteful, but let see if he has more to offer than lip service at his website, where he promotes activicism
