Platoon is the best Vietnam war movie.

I think Full Metal Jacket was a better Vietnam Era movie, but platoon was good. The gun battles were good and you got a feel of conditions and the drug use that was ramped at that time.

If you like war movies, then you'll like Platoon. I thought it was great! It really portrayed what a hell Vietnam was.. how much weed/hash they smoked, how screwed up they got in the head. Charlie Sheen was awesome! Lot of big names in that movie. Also fun if you want to hear Johnny Depp speaking vietnamese (?) Even if war movies arn't your thing, it's still worth a look.

I thought it was a very good movie, it was just weird to see Johnny Depp in such a mundane character, hey? The ironic thing is that Charlie Sheen who is in it, and his dad (Martin Sheen), who stars in Apocalypse Now, both star in Hotshots, which is a mockery of these films.

after reading many times that you just had to see that movie ,i did. big mistake i was very bored , and the scene of Sheen in his lil boat on the river for what seems like ages ,was just the icing on the cake!
