They're not actually homes. They're used by Inuit hunters of northern Canada and Alaska in the winter months when hunting. This practice is becoming less common, though. Think of igloos as tents made of snow. They're not meant to be permanent homes, just a temporary place to stay while hunting. The Inuit actually live in modern houses.

There's even an igloo hotel in Canada! I plan to stay there one day, though I'm sure it is still pretty cold inside.

Igloos are merely temporary shelters, usually hunting shelters, used by Inuits and others. I know they're found in Alaska. Could be other places as well.
