when I try to close out of a window when I have several open, my computer closes all windows and says that there was an error and to file some kind of report. Why is it doing this and is it something that I can fix myself. It's really annoying when checking my email. Please help, thank you.

I just tried the first 3 peoples advice and that didnt work and I did a full system scan for any viruses and none came up. So I'm still lost.

some times when too many windows heve been opened,the system will become unstable. when you go to start closeing some of them out, some of the ones that you wanted to save, may dump as well.try and keep your system cleaned out fron un used items.

You can try System Restore, but if that doesn't work, perform a Repair Install on Windows:
