Adding additional RAM will allow the computer to operate closer to its performance benchmark. So you will notice an increase in performace because the computer will be using less Virutal Memory (a portion of your hard disk reserved to act like RAM but is slower). At a minimum you should have 512MB of RAM installed. The computer is porbably using PC133 so you'll only be able to find this in 512MB modules. Currentl market price is about $100.00.

Going beyond 1GB of RAM will not make the computer appear any faster, what will actually happen is you will be able to have more applications open at the same time wihtout affecting the computer's performance.

I have a notebook with 2GB of RAM and I actually turned the Windows paging file off. I don't recommend doing that wiht 1GB of RAM though.

If you use RAM intensive applciations such as games and image /video editing software, an increase in RAM is a good idea. Basically 128 is too little for the average consumer unless all you do is type letters in Microsoft Word.. :)

So YES! it will speed up your PC :)

Increasing RAM will definitely improve performance, however there are a few other ways to do it, eg. by increasing the page file size and putting it in a different partition preferably on a separate drive.

You will definitely notice a difference by added more RAM (especially since you only have 128MB now). You might want to think about upgrading your processor too, check with your system or motherboard manufacturer to see how fast of one you can install.
