The best way to prevent stretch marks is to be born with good genes. They're genetic.
Stretch marks start deep in the dermis where lotions and cocoa butters don't penetrate. It is a good Idea, though, to keep your skin as moisturized as possible with the product of your choice. This will keep your skin softer and less itchy, and, if stretch marks do appear, some believe mosturized skin will help them fade faster.
Don't be afraid of stretch marks--they're like pregnancy service stripes!

Hi, the key is to MOUSTURIZE!! Cocoa butter, creamy lotions, whatever you like, use multiple times a day in order to prevent stretching. Also, afterwards there are brands like Stritectin which can help if you do get any marks. There are also vitamin supplments available which can help maintain collagen and elasticity in your skin, you can check out Dr. Murad's books for this, he has a very good "Water Principle" explanation of how changes occur in the skin. Also, eating a healthy diet will help keep your skin in tip-top condition, as well as a good exercise regimen.
Hope this helps!

It doesn't matter how much lotion or cocoa butter you apply to your skin on the outside, although doing this will make you feel better and more moisterized, especially now that it is winter and the skin on your belly is prone to itching. The key to stretch marks is in your genes...if your mom had them you probably will as well. It's all about how elastic your skin is and that is something that (unfortuntately) is out of your control. Not that that stopped me from putting on the cocoa and shea butter every day....after all, it can't hurt :)

Vitamin E!!!! But, my doctor said that some women just get them and some do not...he personally thinks that it is a myth if you rub Vitamin E and Cocoa butter and all of that you won't get them. I rubbed everything on me that I could think of and still got them, but they did go away after the babies were born

I used cocoa butter with my 3rd and 4th and am still not sure it really helped much, but it sure smells nice.
Vitamin E oil has great healing properties and are used for aiding with scares.
It really depends on your skin type and how much weight you put on and your age etc
They are totally unavoidable for some people no matter how much stuff they rub into their skin.

Pray! Nothing prevents them...its genetic. Creams and lotions only soften them and help to make them fade faster, but nothing prevents them or gets rid of them.
