My younger sister is in the same position as you.
Do this: Start your degree, and while you are studying begin to take the first steps toward your singing career. For instance, take singing classes, start writing songs, join the gym and become really fit and good looking. There are so many things that you can do while you are doing your animation degree.
Thus, once you complete your degree, you would hopefully be in a strong position to then lift your singing career off the ground.
Good Luck. Hope to see you on MTV one day.

I disagree. Singing is not your everyday type of job that you can easily be successful in. It is not as stable (financially) as would a job related to animation or even McDonald's for that matter. The "wise" choice would be to secure yourself financially and use your spare time to pursue your dream of singing. Should you end up unsuccessful in your singing career you will at least be able to support yourself and be none the worse. Should you be successful you can decide to leave your animation career. Your friend seems like she has too much "blind faith." When it comes to religion that is fine since your religion isn't what is supporting you financially. However, if your family is willing to support you financially until you become successful or until you give up than you can take that route without financial worries. However, I personally don't like to rely that much on other people. And, should you be unsuccessful and eventually give up you will have wasted a lot of time you could have spent furthering your animation career. Another question you should ask yourself is, "do you enjoy animation?" If you enjoy animation as well than do both! What do you have to lose? Who says you have to choose?

Get the animation degree. You could use it to market your singing by making your own animated videos to your songs. Also, it will be a way to pay the bills while you pursue your dream.

even if someone plays with ur mind, why do u allow them. its ur life n u have all the control over it. u can think n decide. what ur parents choosed for u seems to be a wise decision. its a respectable profession. u can sing even after becoming an animation graduate. but, u can not do vice versa.

You get the degree first because when you dream up in the clouds, it's wise to have a parachute... just in case.
Good luck to you!
