A department store is probably your best bet. Macy's, Dillard's, JC Penny, or even Kohl's or Sears should have a men's department with dressy clothes.
You could also try Kenneth Cole, Nautica or other stores like that.
I just took my boyfriend to Burlington Coat Factory & got him some dress clothes. Men's Warehouse is also a good bet, the sales people there are very helpful.

You can get nice shirts anywhere but the most important thing is the fit! Depends on your style, there's two kinds of dress shirts; a more fitted and slim look (this is very european) or a more roomy, casual look thats loose through out the torso and arms (very American).
Express makes some nice long sleeve button up shirts for men, and they do have ties. Make sure you try on their shirts before you purchase because they have the same kind of fits as stated above. If your looking for bold, flashy style, I recommend Express, they have bright prints, bold colors that contrast witha ny outfit!
Banana Republic has some nice shirts as well. They as well have different fits in their shirts as well, so make sure you get the one you want. Their style is more geared for the "Business casual/professional" look. Their style is mostly comprised of nuetral, earth tone colors and very minimal sense of style.
Armani Exchange's style is VERY European. All their shirts are slim fitted and they have a wide range of prints, colors and designs. If your looking for looser fits, this isn't the store for you.
Kenneth Cole is another good store, I find their clothes fit seem to be very loose and tailored for much taller individual with a longer torso. Very sleak, alot of dark colors is this stores speciality.
Same as French Connection, very stylish but made for a very taller individual, with long torsos and long arm lengths. They do have a variety of sizes.
You might find some stuff at GUESS, but their clothes are more for your casual customer and not for dressing up.
Department stores like Macy's, Dillards, Mervyns...have some decent shirts...but I recommend higher end department stores like Bloomingdales, Nordstroms, Saks or Neimens because you'll get quailty customer service and sales reps that know what they are doing and can give you measurements and services other places can not.
Remember Style doesn't come from a store, it comes from the individual! Good luck!

The best advise I can offer, is to pick the right store. Depending on your budget, find a Brooks Brothers...one of my favorites is Jos. A. Banks for my best dress/casual wear. Not only can you find great clothes, but personal attention to help you put your best outfits together. Don't be shy, tell them you have no taste, and need some help. These types of stores are more traditional, so if you're looking for the most recent hip-hop fashion trend, you'll be disappointed. And, you'll also have a great outfit to wear for a wedding, church or job interview too! You can find some great buys at these stores for holiday sales or Father's Day...so it doesn't mean you can't find good deals either

Go to Macy's or some other nicer department store. Not my usual recommendation to find something to wear, but they do have some decent styles/brands. They'll have something that you can wear, and you won't be running all around the mall looking for something.
I think Express may have ties (not 100% sure though), but if they do, the selection is limited. Banana Republic for men also carries dressier clothes.
