If we were winning the war in Iraq, we wouldn't be sending another 20,000 to 30,000 troops over there, would we?

politics or law statistics and data are all the same.
example:
in a small midwest town, crime has gone up 3.9%.
now you can take that one or two ways...
1) the police are catching more of the criminals out there and now the streets are safer for law abiding citizens. but how would they know that unless they know exactly how mny criminals are out there?
2) they are catching about the same percentage of criminals as they always do, but the amount of crime city-wide has increased. thus giving rise to the 3.9% more criminals they have caught. which means there are 3.9% more criminals they didn't.
any guesses which way the police chief is going to tell the story?
Bush's politics are the same way. the evidence that is bad, a good spin is place on it, and uneducated people believe it.
if the war in Iraq was going well, and we were winning, several things would be reality:
-rummy would stlll be in office.
-the defense secretary would have been calling for major changes just before he was canned.
-More troops would not need to be sent.
- more money would not need to be spent
-every member of al-quida caugth wouldn't eb a number 2 or a senior leader.
-someone would know where osama is!
-terrorist/insurgent attacks wouldn't be growing.
Hint to you folks who think we are not winning but also not losing...there is no second place in a war! and as long as money is being spent and troops are dying we are loosing iif we aren't winning.
the same spin was used during vietnam!

Actually the President now states that we are not winning, but we are also not losing. This would indicate a stalemate, we are basically not taking ground, but we are not giving it either. The question at this point is not whether we are winning, but rather what can we do to win. Most people realize we need new directions and strategy in Iraq and it does appear that this is what we are going to get. Whether or not a new strategy will be any more effective remains to be seen. Personally, I would like to see the politicians stop trying to dictate war strategies and leave it to the Generals who are trained and skilled in this area.

Whenever I see interview with our troops they almost unanimously say that we are making progress and Baghdad is the only hot spot in Iraq if all wars were reported the way this one is we would have lost every one. One thing I do know if I was selecting any team to compete I would try and keep liberals off my team, what a much of losers and whiners whenever the going gets tough they are the first ones that fold and go crying home to their mothers.

Yeah the biggest proof is that we made the Muslims groups to fight among themselves and kiling each other. All that US troops has to do is that just watch the fun and safe guard themselves by not going too close to the situation. Let those Muslims kill each other. Since now there is rift between the two groups in Gaza also fun is all the more. The US troops should do every thing possible to spread this violence all across the Middle East and Central Asia. The Muslims who support the so called holy war or jihad would now understand how it hurts when it reaches their homes.

The US has already lost that war, it'd be impossible to show proof we're winning.

No. The deposing of Saddam is considered by many to be a win, but the aftereffects don't show it.
