Before you slam non-union people as uneducated, you might educate yourself. The largest union companies in the U.S. are now facing financial problems that could have an effect on the nations economy. If Ford and G.M. go under, your precious union membership will not get you any extra support from Toyota when they become the nations largest automaker.

Ive worked Union and non Union. Its a give and take. Anyone who thinks that just because you are union you can walk out on strike or demand a raise anytime you wish has no clue what unions are about. Its not like that at all, yet some people who have never worked under a union believe that to be the case. Unions can stand by you and help protect your rights over working conditions such as safety issues, while some non-union factories, if you complain about safety you might get fired.
On the other hand, while working for a union you might be a go-getter...busting your *** everyday to do the best job possible while the guy next to you is a total screw up who never does anything. Yet you both are locked under the same wage, there is little financial benefit for doing a better job.

I disagree. As a non Union person I have always made more money than my counter parts in the union and I didn't have to pay anyone any money to do it. Unions are pretty much on their way out. They stunt company growth and profitability, not to mention the human drones they create. They perform no useful function that I can see. I grew up in Detroit, and Detroit is in its current blight right now because of the Unions. They had their place and need at one time, but they have not moved to support the present global economy. They are responsible for their own demise.

Granted, union workers make higher salaries and may very well have more affordable and better health care packages. But, the costs of all these "benefits" are passed directly to the consumer. Now do you understand why most of what we can "afford" to buy is manufactured outside the good ole US of A??

Have you ever worked with unions?
I'm working with one right now. They are by far the biggest road block to the success of a company. They reward incompetantcy equally with skill and professionalism. They have no reason to work hard because they have absolutely no fear of the consequences. Many just sit and take their checks at the end of the week while others do all the work.
It's like watching Russian communism fail right before my eyes. Eventually this place will fail financially and then EVERYONE, hard workers and lazy, will lose their job.
If you want a national example... look at Ford.

I worked in non-union shops all my life, and I made as much
per hour as any union worker. Actually,I made more because
I did not have to pay for the privilege to work.
I don't like unions, never did. Unions are for lazy people.
Oh, by the way, I'm a Northerner.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a nice day.
Thank you very much, while you're up!!!!!!

Why would someone want to pay a group in order to be able to work? Sounds like organized crime and extortion to me...
