It depends on the area. I once had a customer at my bank who told me she was a stripper and that she made $50K per year. This was much more than I made working as a banker! Also, this was back in 1995 or so, so no telling how much she would be paid now.
$50K translates to $962 per week, not a bad salary if your rent or mortgage isn't too high. Still, not a job I'd really want to do, though I pass no judgment on those who choose to do it.

You've been getting a couple of answers from dancers, and I can't argue with them, but the clubs that I have gone into, the dancers did not make very much money. More than minimum wage, but not the $300-$500 a night you usually hear about.
Figure that a dancer can get paid about ten dollars from stage tips during her dance (which would probably come every hour or so), and somewhere between $5-$20 for a personal dance, (which on most nights would probably be less than one dance every hour.) The dancer might also make money from the drinks customers buy her, (I'm not sure how much they could make.)
Also, remember that dancers don't necessarily keep good financial records. While many people know someone who claimed to make a lot of money as a dancer, you still don't see a lot of Infiniti QX56's in the employee parking lot.
The advantage to stripping is tax free income (sometimes), and a daily payday.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!! Do girls really think like this at your age??? AHHHHHHH!!!!!! If I ever heard my niece suggest something like that I would straight up smack her!!!!! Strippers make lots of money yes, but they are also around a lot of drinking and drugs(which you will get pulled into, don't fool yourself!) which is where the money goes. You don't want to do that for money are you insane!?!?!?!?! Even being a bartender would be better(and probably just as profitable) but there are tons of other things you can do for money. Not to mention there are tons of grants that would be way smarter to work towards at your age, you have plenty of time if you work hard at your grades (FYI, you don't have to pay off grants). That would give you the time you needed to study instead of staying up all night dancing and studying all day, when would you sleep? Do you know how many stories I hear of strippers getting raped! Multiple times and then they start getting psychological issues!! Stick with your college kid and don't use your body for money, have more respect for your self than that!!! For goodness sake, what is our society coming to if our youth actually think like this!! Where are your parents and what do they think of your plans?? Why do I get the feeling they are planted on the couch watching tv with a beer in they're hands?? You poor, neglected, naive little girl....

I make anywhere from $700 - $1,200 at night, $300 - $600 during the day. It depends on the clientele and competition. Do you know the name of the club where she danced, or city?
I'm sorry about your loss.

Usually it's very minimal with the expectation that what she makes will depend directly on her ability to gather in tips. She can also supplement the income by lap dances and other more sexual services. Frequently her income is increased by encouraging patrons to buy expensive booze. She will get a small bonus for each drink she's responsible for getting someone to buy.
She may also get supplemental income by pimping out known prostitutes to customers who ask.
