Evolutionarily, a sexual mate would be picked on features that are deemed to be 'beautiful' and so this feature, in this case the nose, would seem beautiful to us because it has been picked over many generations.

Chimpanzees think humans are stretched out, ugly caricatures of themselves. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
If you're a proponent of the "sea ape" speculation, then our nose appears to be designed so that when you're standing upright, water doesn't go up your nostrils. At the beach, you can kneel to feel around for clams without going all spluttery afterward.

Evolution.
Beauty is in the eye of a beholder. The chimp's nose is beautiful in design, function, geometric detail, etc. The fact that it does not look like a human nose is irrelevant, since it is *not* a human nose. The nose of the elephant, camel, and starry-nosed mole are also beautiful, but probably not on a human.
