Your hamster is fine alone. I have one and it is alone and he is fine alone. He has been living for two years. Just make sure your hamster has a wheel and plenty of room to move. Also get them one of those balls so he can roll around in your place.

Having a hamster alone is actually the best choice if you don't want to breed. It almost always leads to fights. But if you plan on breeding, then you would probably have to get two hamsters that were kept together at the pet store to keep them from fighting.

do no longer attempt to residing house 2 hamsters jointly! Syrian hamsters (inc goldens, teddies and so on) are a strictly solitary species. they do no longer want, prefer or perhaps like the business organisation of different hamsters and are incredibly territorial. have faith me, he's by utilising no potential lonely! Being in close proximity to a diverse hamster (eg interior an analogous cage) is amazingly demanding. they'll combat, inflicting severe injury and in all probability dying. that's no longer uncomon for syrians to kill or perhaps cannibalise eachother. in case you prefer yet another hamster, by utilising all potential get one - yet the two hamsters will could desire to stay on my own of their very very own cage, and stored separate in any respect situations (do no longer placed them jointly for playtime or something like that). If accessible, you may desire to placed the cages some way from eachother so the hamsters are no longer coming head to head interior the direction of the bars.

Honestly, it depends on what type of hamster it is. Dwarf hamsters like to be in groups and can tolerate communal cages quite well. Siberian hamsters though (teddy bear, fancy, black bear) are much more suited for a solitary life and will fight until one of them dies.

It's probably bet if you keep it alone. If you get another hamster, they might always be fighting. You should just give it your attention and he/she should be fine.

That is actually okay. I know lots of people who only have one hamster, actually, it keeps them from fighting if they are the same gender!

Hope this helps!! :-)

You don't HAVE to get another, but they seem to live longer with a cage mate. If you do though, they have to be the same breed or they'll fight.
