What I do is send news, information, and opinions to everyone in my contact list. I keep them updated even if they do not want to be. Maybe if everyone did this, the people of this world would wake up to the tragedies of the world and start responding to them.......I think a massive influx of UN troops.....about ten thousand would do, round up the killers, drop them in some wherehouse prison, and leave them there for a year or two till we can get around to them......Have them half starve, cold, put them through some unlikely events......teach them some lessons so to say.......I think we should take a very hard line with people who do this sort of thing. They all need to know that the world will not tolerate it.......I know it sounds cruel, but you cannot tolerate this in our civilization, or it will continue to happen............

The Darfur situation is complicated of many problems that have festered for decades in international politics. But the solution doesn’t have to be.
First, tell the UN to return to their offices and take a long nap, then unilaterally take our military in there and win the &@$* thing.
Our real problem is that no one has the will to determine who the good guys are and then get serious about fixing it.
I know it sounds too simplistic, but for 50 years, we've let third world countries get away with murder, literally, because we have bought the UN philosophy that peace is great, but not when it comes at too high a price—or if there is a buck to be made. So even if the United States has an answer, it has become too politically inconvenient to act on it.
That goes for many conflicts that drag on for decades and decades while all the 'smartest guys in the room' can only wring their hands and hope someone, anyone but them, are the first on the scene so they can wax eloquently about how they would do it better if they were there.
And god help you if you are the first on the scene. The UN, the international thugs, the 'intellectual elite', the media, and the EU will all nit pick, second guess, and eventually crucify you and then not lift a finger to help. Then, they'll line up at the UN, on your own soil, and one by one blast you and call your leaders names and your own media will make them into heroes while your kids watch and decide that there is nothing good about you or your country while the enemy waits for the one generation to come along that won’t lift a finger in their own defense.
The Darfur situation is symptomatic of many problems.

The reason so many people are being killed or displaced in Darfour is entirely to do with OIL.Black gold. It was discovered in viable quantities recently and it has been hushed up by major petro-companies that are deliberately provoking instability so that the control over the Darfour area will be handed to a party most amicable to such interests. Before Oil was found in Darfour- there were never any major problems- no-one had ever heard of Darfour being a hotspot. The whole issue is very murky. Yes- I completely agree that the West has a moral duty to act- but it is unlikely to as prospective change in Sudan seems to be more attractive than the current rule.

The horror of the genocide in Darfur is rarely mentioned by people. Almost no one knows what is going on there; the news media doesn't say much (no surprise there), the vast majority couldn't find Sudan on a map, and there is no understanding of the peoples who live there. It is shocking.
My understanding of this is that the Sudanese government is backing the group/tribe which is responsible for the on-going massacre. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I am not sure how to stop a rogue government: if the UN is ignored by them, then what can we do?
Who is backing the Sudanese govt? Perhaps that is the angle to take.

Well one one the solutions that the liberals would back is go to the UN, but look at their track record anyone with a grain of common sense knows that is a effort in futility. Unfortunately we can not interfere because we will get blamed by the world and the liberals in this country if everything does not turn out the way it is expected. So I think they are screwed this is what happens when you constantly condemns the US. Atrocities increase all over the world because we are the only one with the gonads to stop it.

I just read an article about Darfur in the Detroit News today. I had heard about it before, but i think the information is spreading pretty fast. The article said that 65% of the country would support sending US troops there, but im not sure if our country is ready to take on more countries problems right now? dont you see all the criticism that the war in Iraq is getting? its the same kind of idea.

Kiran, since you have it all figure out. Go show starving people how they can take the weapons of the armed forces at night time.
I have just heard that Oil has been found in Sudan. It is one of the biggest reserves in the World.

Just leave them alone. Any race or people in world who look to the world and depend upon out side help for every thing like the african countries do nothing can be done. The people of darfur should raise to the situation and fight it out. Untill then nothing can be done. You may say how to fight with the armed forces? Where there is will there is a way. Attack the armed forces during night when they are resting, snatch the weapons from them and use those weapons against them.

It's obvious that the AU is again incapable of getting
their heads out of their asses. So obviously the only
options left is to either ignore it and book it under "not
our problem" or waste some bullets where it's overdue.
If there has been a good reason to go to war in the last
years....this is it.

The UN should solve the misery of those in Darfur.
They always say they have more than 100 membeships.
Pass the stck to them and let them have a try to show planet of apes.
How effective they are?
Otherwise they say they never have a chance trying to play the Big Boy's game in planet of apes.
