I just bought a nice long warm robe for a 93 year old woman. Old people stay cold so i suggest a robe, some socks or fuzzy slippers.

I'd say a 26 year old man, but I wouldn't want to be flippant, as I see yours is an honest question.

At her age, it's time that is most important. Make sure she's getting enough pleasure out of it. You can help her by taking care of some of the normal, irritating chores as well as just spending quality time with her.

Like the lady above me suggested: get her a nice, pretty bathrobe, but then tuck into the pockets homemade IOU tickets for things like: mowing her lawn, grocery runs, a game of scrabble, a cup of tea, an ice cream, a matinee movie, a cooked meal that you bring to her house..

Be creative with the IOUs- spend some time actually creating "pretty-looking" slips of paper. I think she’ll like the bathrobe, but appreciate the time that you are willing to spend with her even more.

A subscription to her favorite magazine. A gift certificate to have her house cleaned by a maid service. A gift card for her favorite restaurant. Flowers, or better yet, a houseplant that blooms. A small, simple to use CD player, and a selection of her favorite music. A 77-year old boyfriend.
Merry Christmas!

My Mom is just a bit younger than that. She asked for specific books (or gift cert. to Barnes and Noble), flavored coffee (they like whole bean and grind it fresh), gift cert. to local restaurants and even the local diners, calendars of her favorite places (the beach or Ireland), also gift cert. to the movies.

Depends on how well this woman can ger around, she might appreciate gift cert. to local restaurants or her hairdresser. You could make up a basket of coffees, cocoa and books or gift cert.

I also agree with other posters that the gift of your time is great, whether helping her with chores she can no longer do or just being company for her. If you get her a calendar, maybe prefill it with things you would do with her - lunch out, coffee, taking her shopping, spring cleaning or yard clean up, etc.

Scan a bunch of old and/or new photos of family and loved ones. Upload them to a digital picture frame...not sure exactly what they're called but my office mate has one. It stores about 2 MB of pictures which if you compress the digital images can be quite a few. Watch her eyes light up as the slideshow begins.....

The gift of yourself.
Spend time with her and listen to her life stories-she will amaze you with them I am sure.
Most folks this age and older enjoy sharing their time with the younger crowd and sharing experiences.
I am not quite that old yet but I really have fun with the younger set and try, in a nice way, to pass on a bit of wisdom.

Go to Hallmark Card Store they have so many sentimental gifts that older women love. Or how about a gift certificate to her local favorite restaurant.

Well, at that age you can probably guess that they pretty much have everything they would want.....so, for the elderly people in my life, the one thing that I can give that they really appreciate is my time. Visiting someone, especially around this time of the year, will definately brighten their spirit and yours.
