Anything that has a spine is a vertebrate. Since fish have spines, guess what that makes them?

they are, of course, vertebrates!
the difference between a vertebrate and an invertebrate is that vertebrates have backbones while invertebrates don't have backbones. in fact, the term vertebra means backbone.
fishes have backbones thus they are vertebrates.

Any living being having a skeletal system or should i say having a backbone is a vertebrate and since fish has a skeletal system, you can easily conclude it is a vertebrate
