Even with all the laws, remember how Dick called names to Senator Leahy on the Senate floor ? Do you think he would have stopped there if he knew he could get away by doing more? Do you think if there was no government, the Republicans would have bombed more of the abortion-clinics? Do you think, if there was a blackout, and the police were unable to do anything, that people would start looting other people's preperty even if they had no shortage of food? You get the idea.

So, Cheney told Leahy to f-off after Leahy spewed lies and smears against Bush & Cheney. How terrible!

Since it was a handful of fanatical right-to-lifers who bombed abortion clinics, a move condemned by over 99% of right-to-lifers, saying this is something all GOP would like to do is a terrible libel and smear.

Actually, Republican voters, who believe strongly in the rule of law and that the first line of defense against criminals is the citizen, we would re-create a government, and probably constitutionally create stricter and harder limits it cannot grow past. And we would police the streets, being gun-owners and all, and protect even the liberal weinies from bad people, like we've always done.

Liberals, on the other hand, being of the entitlement mindset that they're somehow *owed* food, shelter and clothing, would probably be a hindrance to re-establishing sensible government.

I find your mental image of Republicans to be quite childish and silly. But when you don't use facts or truth to perceive things, it does tend to have an inhibiting effect on rationality.

No. If there was no government, there would no Democrats or Republicans, since political parties are part of government and these particular parties are part of this particular governmental structure.

As for a blackout, there was one three years ago, don't you remember? It affected Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvannia, New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Connecticut, as well the province of Ontario, Canada. 9,200 square miles and 50 million people - 1/7th the population of the United States were without power, in some places for almost a week. And there two - count them, *two* - reported incidents of looting: in Brooklyn, New York, and in Orleans, a suburb of Ottawa, Ontario.

I remember the blackout. People came together. We all sat out at night on our balconies, porches, front lawn and even in the streets saying, "My God! Look! There are STARS!" We had block barbeques to cook up the meat that would have gone bad in our now not working freezers. We shared. We were worried, but we didn't become animals.

As for the abortion issue, I think you need to do more research. There are plenty of Democrats who are against it, and plenty of Republicans who don't see a problem with it. It is a touchstone issue for many people, but the arguments aren't as cleanly divided as you seem to believe.

"...the Republicans would have bombed more of the abortion-clinics?" What?! Republicans bomb abortion clinics? I'd love to know what your sources are. If there were no government, EVERYONE would be fighting in the streets, political affiliation or no. If there were no government, political parties wouldn't matter.

No, if there was no government spreading vile propoganda then there would be no Republicans, Democrats, "red/blue" states, or any of this partisan nonsense.

People in each state would vote for what laws they wanted, and conservative states would have conservative governments, and liberal states would have liberal governments, and everyone would finally mind their own business. And if there was a war we would unite as a nation, win the war, and go home.

For this idyllic paradise, vote Pizza Guy in 2008. I promise to stay out of your business, and tell Congress to go to hell. I wouldn't pass a bill unless it was an amendment with line item veto, and then I wouldn't pass another bill unless it was an honest budget with no pork waste.

You'd all get refunds.

Also, I'd start a petition to remove all members of Congress, Republican or Democrat, and replace them with candidates which accept no campaign contributions, and are petition-only. Then, all you have to do is tell your newly reformed Congress what you want, and if they don't do it, you start another petition and fire them.

No more bogus "elections" every 6 years. You can vote anytime you want. That's accountability.

Political labels would be meaningless in the absence of politics. The fight would be between the civilized and the barbarians. I wouldn't be surprised if civilization turned out to be a thin veneer in a lot of Republicans.

If there was no government there would be chaos, since there is government there is chaos. What to do? Big question, lots of answers......The biggest question is why do people who have the right to vote, don't? There are so many countries where the right is not available, especially to women, so why do we take for granite this right, and not appreciate it...................
