University term has ended. I won't see my friends for 3 weeks, I have no work and therefore no money for 3 weeks either. I'm so fed up, what can I do to cheer myself up?

I'm a single parent so bar work is out of the question. I have a job, but my contract doesn't allow me to work out of term time. I just miss all my friends is all.

Without trying to sound like a jerk, I would suggest you get a life. There are alot of things out there that can be done without money. If you are not motivated enough, just sleep, that will get you through the days quicker. Or call your parents, ask them for some money (if thats a viable option), buy a bottle of Jack, a woman of the night, and call it a day. That way you will have stories to tell your friends when they get back in 3 weeks. Happy Holidays!!!! No seriously, the holiday times can suck when we dont have anything to do, reading a thick book can cure you of your bordem. You are at a University, so I am sure you can read.

Lucky you! No work for 3 weeks?! You should try doing what I did - coming home from uni working in a call centre trying to flog catering magazines for 3 weeks over Christmas! Then you'd really have something to be depressed about! You should be looking forward to a few weeks at home with home cooking and clean towels! Trust me, appreciate it now whilst you can because when you finish uni and start work... you'll have a lot to be feeling depressed about and will look back on those times at uni very fondly indeed!!

... Yeah, see if you can get a local politician involved. There's good money to be made in blackmail these days.
Seriously:
Ask at your local pub if they need some bar-work.
You'll get paid and there's an element of social interaction there too. It'll be a distraction from your self-pity if nothing else.
Good luck.

honey...at this time of year there's people who need extra hands in their bars and clubs...go get yourself a part time job and stop moping, therefore you'll have money, you'll be in the company of other people and you will make extra on tips...plus you'll be partying too....be positive..do something...even if it's collecting glasses...you'll still get paid....and you'll meet new friends....

pamper yourself. get your favourite video and favourite icecream. take a long bath with bubble bath, and then watch the film with the ice cream feeling snuggly!
alternatively write a letter to each of your uni friends telling them how much they mean to you and how much your missing them. then look forward to the replies!
