No, it isn't for people who live at Renaissance Faires. If you live in the 21st year, it isn't very good.

Here are the meanings of the word "wench" that I found from dictionary.com:
American Heritage Dictionary - Cite This Source wench (wÄnch) Pronunciation Key
n.
1. A young woman or girl, especially a peasant girl.
2. A woman servant.
3. A wanton woman.
intr.v. wenched, wench·ing, wench·es
1. To consort or engage in sex with wanton women. Used of a man.
...................................................................................................
So, the meanings and usages for this word can range from those that are entirely innocent on the one extreme to that which is quite salacious at the other extreme. In this case, the crazy Wench was probably reacting to the meaning of the word to which she felt she most closely identified herself !

What are you a pirate? Who uses wench anymore!? You are lucky you didn't call her the C word. I would have kicked you in the nads if you said that one to me! But I am not crazy so I wouldn't have pissed you off to the point where you would need to use profanity at me lol.

It wouldn't bother me. Actually, I'm a Renaissance Faire performer here in Florida. Calling me a wench would be a compliment! :) But no, if she was acting up, you were justified. As you pointed out, there are far worse things you could have said

If they made a super comic character called Wiry Wench, who do you think they would choose to act her?

Well, yes it is that bad!
But in that circumstance, it sounded like she deserved it anyway. And I hope you really did say that last comment, that's funny! Talk about putting the icing on the cake!

You insulted a girl. Calling her something as weak as "dummy" would be a very bad thing.
