Either the M1 or the A1. The M1 goes as far as Leeds, and links to the A1 just outside Wetherby. The A1 runs from London to Edinburgh and much of it follows the route of the Great North Road.

The only main road from the North that goes INTO London is the A1

Actually the M1 is the main road out of London to Leeds (but then again I'm biased)

Strictly speaking it would be the A1, as this follows the historical route of the old roman roads and the Great North Road.

it would be the M1 but if you use a trunk road it would be the A1
