Society and advertising has programmed women to think we must be in competition with one another. Probably because if we could ever band together there would be some massive changes.

The Western model of social interactions or "behavior" teaches the girl, from the earliest days, that other girls are "enemies" and that she should compete with them. It is an ancient feminist postulate. In such a manner the male society can better hold power and rule women's lives.

It's not wrong to expect support. Some women feel threatened by other women for various shallow reasons. It's so much easier to be kind. There's a whole "nurses eat their young" theory that addresses this same issue. Newly graduated nurses don't always get a warm welcome from seasoned veteran nurses. It's crazy. Women are naturally critical. It is competition. But you are right, your friends should be supportive and if they do have criticism it should be delivered in a compassionate manner.

I would like support also, but I have found that women in general are critical and untrustworthy. They are competitive and will talk about you behind your back and stab you in the back every chance they get.
