And a Happy Festivus to you, as well!
Many people think that Festivus was just made up for the Seinfeld episode, but in fact it was actually celebrated by one of the writer's families way back from 1966. Everything but the pole was from their real life. The guy's father basically made it up, but apparently with some grounding in a real holiday he had read about.

Happy Festivus!!
We celebrate Festivus during the 3rd weekend in March, just to be different. We buy odd gifts and give them for no reason.
I love Festivus....and yes, we do the 'airing of grievences' and the 'feats of strength'. My family just loved the concept presented by George Costanza's father. We have yet to find a festivus pole that we can agree on though......
*Happy Holidays!!*

1387, from O.Fr. festivité, from L. festivitatem (nom. festivitas), from festivus "festive," from festum "festival or holiday," neut. of festus "of a feast." Festival first recorded as a noun 1589, having been an adj. 14c., from M.L. festivalis "of a church holiday."

Well, you can but it just makes you seem lame and pathetic for making a sit-com a part of your life like that. I mean, get a grip. It was on a TV show!
