I've been feeling pretty achy the last few days, in my lower back and lower abdomen and legs. It feels a little worse than I would feel like before my period would start. I don't know either if I've lost my mucus plug, I did a couple of weeks ago have more discharge than usual, just not any blood or noticeable plug looking thing? Can you loose it without noticing? Also my braxton hicks have been getting stronger, and it feels harder to breath when they happen, and a little crampy down low sometimes? This is my first pregnancy too!!! Thanks!!

You will know when you are in labour when the contractions get closer together and more painfuil...well that's what normally happens anyway, there are always exceptions to the rule.
The plug can come out weeks before labour starts or days before or even during labour.
It may or may not have blood in it and it can come out in one piece, like a thick plug, or in bits and pieces like a heavy discharge, so unless you have an internal exam you won't know.
If you are a couple of cm's dilated then I would say you have lost the plug, or some of it anwyay.
just sit back and see what happens, if it settles down you know it's not labour, if it gets stronger then have a check and see what's happening.

Good luck!

Everything that you have described is completely normal for your last 2-4 weeks of pregnancy. Your baby is considered full term now and is taking up so much speac in your body that it is creating pressure on your back and on your lower abdomen including your vagina. The pain in your legs is also related to all of this. Now only is your bosy carrying around extra weight than normal, but your balance is out of whack too.Carrying all the weight up front makes your legs sore.
As far as the mucous plug goes...yes, you could lose it without knowing...or you may not lose it at all. It may come out during labor. I have never been aware of losing mine and I have been through this many times. Excess discharge is fairly common as long as you are sure that it is not caused from a yeast infection. The braxton Hicks contractions will become more and more uncomfortable because your baby is bigger now. The best way to know when you are in labor is when the contractions have a regular timed pattern wether you are active or resting...or when your water breaks. I wouldn't say that what you are feeling is a sign of labor...but with only two weeks to go...your body is getting prepared. Get some rest, drink plenty of fluids and hang in there! You are alomst done! :)
Good luck and Congratulations!

You can lose your mucus plug without noticing. I had my first baby 8 months ago and did not have a clue what to look for. I did have the same symptoms....and the braxton hicks became stronger and stronger. I did lose my mucus plug in the morning at exactly 38 weeks. Later than evening, I told my husband that I thought we should go to the doctor just to be on the safe side....by the time we got there, I was having contractions that were 10 minutes apart... You should call your doctor just to be on the safe side and try to get an appointment this morning....

I believe the baby is getting ready for the birth but not right now not yet. I have had that feeling for the past two weeks and I am getting induced on Thursday. I suggest to do alot of walking and then rest to help things along. You will know when the time comes, I just hope you have a great Christmas!!!!

Yes, thoes are all signs of labor. Take it easy on yourself get lots of bed rest. You may not notice you have lost your mucas plug! If you are having contractions than practice breathing when they happen! I had contractions at home for 4 days untill they took me in. It was a long 4 days with sleepless nights. Good luck to you, you will soon be holding your baby!

If you take a warm bath while having Braxton Hicks, it could regulate them, it did mine and they got stronger to. Best of luck and I would call your doctor after getting out of the tube to be seen and see what they think is going on. Good Luck

Your baby is probably just positioning itself closer to the birth canal, and has less and less room in there.. ....you will know when your water breaks...and I hope you are going to a dr... they will always know approx when --I have had 3 babies and never noticed a "plug"... keep track of those cramps and how far apart they are... if they keep getting stronger and stronger it is the real thing... plus a lot of women give birth early their first time around ...

Can you time the contractions? Not everyone realizes when they lose their mucus plug. It sounds like the signs of labor to me. I would call your doctor!

I would go to the er. when I was ready for my first one. I could not sleep or sit, I thought it was the raw clams that I eat the night before. I went with my husband to the er and guess what the cramps where, not the raw clams, it was my son getting ready to come out. now he is 29. hope you have an easy time of it and wait until you see that bundle of joy in your arms.

Yes, call the hospital now!
You don't want a dry birth and your
water could break before you get there!
