now this guy starts blaming the US politicians for not signing some bill to provide funds for mosquito nets and to fight AIDS, saying that "But the million people who were expecting [mosquito] bed nets don’t know who to blame. They just know that a promise made by the United States to keep their families safe is in danger of being broken next year.”

what promise has the US officially made to anyone? lets see it. i think this guy and his obsessive compulsive guilt trip go to developed nations asking for money, then when he is denied, he tells poor countries that they broke a promise that they never made, just to make them look bad. it seems he thinks that developed nations are *obligated* to give money to the poor. no, no nation should be forced or bullied into giving money to anyone because we dont live in a communist world. by the way, it seems he doesnt like paying taxes himself: http://newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/8/7/145346.shtml?s=lh

Don't really care for the article. "America's News page"? Seems more like another Right-wing website. I try to avoid sites majorly biased on EITHER side.

Edit: I stand by what I said about the website. As for Bono, I'm sure he has good intentions, but he's not the only one. And his money is going to the governments in Africa, so he has no idea if its going towards where he wants it. With that said, continuously sending money over there with no actual action isn't doing anything but wasting, which he'd know if he regularly went to Africa to see if the money was helping.

So if somebody who spends more time helping the poor of the world than making money for himself calls our government on a broken promise you attack him and deny the promise was made?

What are you Bush?

bono and oprah are on egotistical missions. it really gets old.
people are stupid enough to look at them as saints when in reality, the greatest saints in history work and give to the needy in quiet without recognition.
Oprah professes to be a Christian and yet does not follow this philosophy. Too busy to look inwards I guess.

bono is a bit self righteous i agree, but he is talking about money "pledged" (which is as good as a promise, no?) by the US govt and not delivered. he has a right to complain (this time).

I think he has some good ideas, and he's on the right track, but he's getting on my nerves. He needs to be more humble, if you ask me.
