My computer became infected and I am receiving popups telling me to install a program called Pest Capture. It sounds a bit fishy to me because I'm almost certain that Pest Capture popups only started after my computer got infected. I am desparate, please give me your valuable opinion.

It's spyware. Kinda weird how they exploit what they're supposed to be stopping and then expect you to trust them. Do a search for Pest Capture on Google and you will find ways to get rid of it. The best thing to do is find forums on ways to get rid of it. There will be plenty of sites trying to sell you products to get rid of it, but you may not need to buy any. Also make sure you are running Anti-virus, Anti-spyware and your firewall is turned on. Even with all of that though, some spyware and virus' are tricky enough to get through it all.

Hi there,

Pest Capture is a variant of the "Pest Trap" infection:

The best and easiest way to remove this infection is by installing the Free Trial of Prevx1. This will scan your PC and remove this and any other infections free of charge.

You can check http://spywarewarrior.com/ under the section Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware before you download/install any "strange" anti-spyware program to see if it is on this list first. If so, don't install it. Pest Capture is on this list. Don't use it.

Any popup telling you to install some anti-spyware program, you should not trust it. A legitimate anti-spyware program is not going to "popup", especially if you are infected.
