1830, the Game of Railroads and Robber Barons. It takes about 6 hours to play.
I've never played Clue DVD, but I used to have Clue VCR game and it was o.k. It got kind of old after a while.
I like old Avalon Hill games like History of the World, Blackbeard, Diplomacy, etc. In terms of newer games, we played Apples to Apples recently and that was a lot of fun. Have not really played any DVD games.

I'd have to say it would be Monopoly. Just because you never really know whos gonna win. This way no one can sit there and be gloomy because they can see whos going to win and plus you get to play with money even if it is fake. I've never played Clue DVD but it certainly did look like it could have been loads upon loads of fun.

My personal favorite is the ancient Asian board game go (also called wei chi or baduk). Much easier to learn than chess, but many more levels of complexity.
For games of a more social nature, I like games like Apples to Apples, Trivial Pursuit, Elixir, and Fluxx. I also like many of the games one can play w. Ice House pieces from Looney Labs.
I played video Clue once years ago. I didn't care for it. Took too long and wasn't any more fun than the basic set.

Arkham Horror. A Call of C'thulhu boardgame. It's pretty complex but you play one of 16 different characters as you try to keep portals closed. Everyone works together to try and seal the evil elder god in it's dimension. It's like a Roleplaying game in boardgame form. I'm addicted.
