There are so many different kinds of assistive technology. The term itself is rather generic and refers to all kinds of items, software, from the simple to the complex. For example, one of those rubber things you put on a pencil to make it easier to hold is considered assistive technology. Look up terms such as Intellitools, Alpha Smart, Phonic Ear, Language Master, switch adapted mouse, touch screen, TDD, speech recognition software, telecare, sticky keys, etc. Calculators, touch pads, special seating, adapted keyboards, cassette players, scanners, braille embossers, etc. are all forms of assistive technology.

Abillitations, Integrations are some catelogs that have wonderful things in them. As far as information goes, Closing the Gap has some wonderful information and has an annual conference. Most states or larger school systems have information on assistive technology through their special education, physical therapy, occupational therapy and SLT.
