As mentioned the first episode is called Pilot because it is what is traditionally called the pilot episode. The second episode is called Allen because that is the type of screw Michael needs to get: Allen Schweitzer 11121147.

Yeah. Every first episode for every tv series is named Pilot, because it is the "Pilot Episode".
I wondered that too when I went back and watched the first episode in season one of The Shield.

The first episode of any new show is called "Pilot", because it's the Pilot Episode; the first one, where they decide if the show will fly or not.

Pilot is the name of the first taping of every show. Not all "pilot"s make it to television. Sometimes they make a pilot show it to a test audience and based on the response it may go straight to TV as is, character or storyline changes may be made, or the whole show may be tossed aside never to be seen by the general public.
