Although a lot of people would like to think so, in reality it does not. But there is some psychology behind this. If you think it does make you smarter, then you will soon develop the way of thinking that it does, so anytime you do anything you will be more apt to remember what it was, how you did it, etc. Coffee is however a good antioxident and it is also known to kill brain cells, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you'll go stupid because there have been people who have been drinking coffee since 13 and are now 63+ that I know and they are fine. But to your origional question, no coffee doesn't make you smarter.

Not that I know of. I do have a 4 pack of Red Bull though. Maybe that will make me smarter?

There was a study done that shows that coffee will make your brain work faster (even decaf). That could increase the speed at which you absorb information, but that would be the only way.

Well it will wake me up, and oddly enough I seem to be smarter when I'm awake, so all in all, I'd say yes.

I've heard just the opposite:that coffe makes people dumber, not actually dumber but can cause minimalization of the concretation, and that way you can clearly think.That's what I've heard, don't know if that is true:)
P.S.Also can make you nervous

it might help because it wakes you up...I took an IQ test online a few days ago after having some beers and I got a hight score than I did when I took another IQ test when I was at work and sober

I feel that I am pretty smart and I never drink coffee - don't like it.
