Anyone who listens to the News what I am talking about.
Thailand is a Buddhist Country, but they are tolerant of the Christians who are here, and even put up lovely Xmas Trees and lights, and all the stores play Carols and the assistants wear Father Xmas hats......
It's quite lovely.

The only war on Christmas is brought by Christians. Within 2 weeks of their holy day there are 4 other holidays from other religions but do they get any kind of recognition in the US? Very little. What do you think the hew and cry would be if Wal-Mart or a similar store put up decorations for Yule? And just whom would be yelling? The whole garbage is just that, garbage to invent something so one group can get special treatment. As for Christmas trees... those are PAGAN not Christian.

A head teacher here in Switzerland created a lot of bad vibes for Muslims by going public with the idea that Christmas should not be featured in end of term festivities because of the Muslim children in the school. The Muslim community then said that they had no problem with Christmas celebrations, Jesus is revered as a prophet in Islam and, living in a Christian country they gave their children presents at Christmas time. Which piece of news do you think will stick in the minds of the un-thinking public?
Who's trying to stop Christmas? It's certainly not the biggest department store in my town, which happens to be Jewish owned.

No one is trying to stop Christians celebrating xmas. It's the media and governing bodies who say this. I have many friends of different religions and not one of them objects. If the local authorities decide to take measures like to not put up Xmas lights because it may cause offence, they are perpetuating that view that non Christians do not want to see anything that may offend them - it is the powers that be that causes offence to think that non Christian's are so primitive that they can not tolerate Xmas. They fuel hate crime and it angers me so much!

No one is stopping Christians from celebrating anything. They're taking things out of context and saying they're being persecuted, etc, when all that is going on is that they are being informed that Christianity is not the only religion out there and that other people are allowed their celebrations as well, regardless of religion or lack thereof, which a large number of Christians do not accept or acknowledge.

I see no reason for other religions not to get into the "novelty" of Christmas.

I enjoy the New Year Festival in China Town in Manchester. I even enjoy going to Rusholme during the Muslim holidays and I have never had any trouble because of my "lack" of different religion.

Its not religions that are opposed to other religions its a minority of one religion opposed to a religion. And the ridiculous bunch of @r$eholes in the PC (thats politically correct) brigade who, as far as I can tell, are doing more harm than good being opposed to everything.

The only people against Christmas are the latter day Scrooges who lie about human rights laws in order to avoid spending money.

The only religious group likely to be offended by Christmas are Christians. What have trees, lights, reindeer, snow, overeating and making merry got to do with Jesus who was probably born in October and definitely not in a stable.

It is not the OTHER religions it is the usual bunch of "do badders" who pretend to be "do gooders" and think that to be PC you should not offend any other persons beliefs by celebrating openly your own. It is such a load of rubbish because taken to its ultimate conclusion nobody must celebrate anything for risk of upsetting somebody.
The OTHER religions are not offended as it is general that respect of faith exists. Get bloody politics out of religion and perhaps things will start to be better. You have the right to your beliefs and I to mine. I will respect yours and defend your rights all I ask is you do the same for me.
Happy Christmas and let us get back to real British values and not the kind of PC rubbish that we are being fed now.

these country was founded on religious freedom. Merry Christmas should not be a dirty word. people are overly sensitive these days looking for the next insignificance to be outraged by. we try too hard to dictate the behavior of others. my suggestion.... instead of worrying about decorations or greetings perhaps we should worry about weather everyone is fed, housed, that schools are safe, our kids are OK, and that we have countrymen and fellow soldiers in danger away from their families in this holiday season. so instead of being upset by the phrase uttered by the greeter at wal-mart, pick one person and spread the good cheer. i have been wished a happy each of the holidays (happy Kwanzaa, Hanukkah etc) and each one made me smile and carry on the heart of why this season is special to each of us in our own way. Peace on earth and good will towards men. not a bad idea.

I think its good to remember that Christ taught us to turn the other cheek when refering to this question. Everybody is different in this world, & that is what makes this an amazing place to live in. I think that its PEOPLE not so much other religions that are trying to stop a celebtration of Christmas. And that's because they are misinterpeting their own message of their own religion.
I think that if all mankind looked at their own religion with the true message then the world just might be a better place to live in.

I believe these gits, those taking away our joy and rights to tradition need a hard kick in the ar*se.
And with that a wickedly happy Christmas. Stand up for your rights to a good old fashioned Christmas in the Anglican or your other tradition of choice!
