You all sound like a bunch of Frenchmen ready to hand over your country at the sight of a pistol. If someone just killed my family or not I'm goin' out like a Viking and you why ? Maybe everybody fights to the death, maybe the captors would say" to hell with it, it's not worth the trouble just like those damn Indians". Instead they submitted. And if you make the argument their were slaves of all colors I only hear one cryin' and I promise you nobody living today EVER knew a slave For those who gave serious answers thank you.

Please read a history book. First of all the correct term isn't Indians it's Native Americans. Native Americans were enslaved but they made poor slaves, many died of diseases and they just couldn't take doing that type of hard labor. As far as Africans they just weren't a match against white Europeans and their weapons to fight back!

Some Indians were enslaved initially. But they made poor workers and would die of diseases like smallpox. The White man wanted the land of the Indians, not their labor.
Some slaves committed suicide rather than work, some were beat to death for refusing to work, and the rest were just trying to survive until tomorrow so they worked.
Also, those that were enslaved did put up a fight when they were captured. Women and children obviously didn't stand much of a chance. The men were abducted individually or sold by their fellow Africans after being captured in war. Once in America, they didn't share a language to unite with or have to weapons to fight with.

Hi there, the indians where slaves but were incapable as they could not cope with the workload and also caught all kind of strange diseases (google search the history of slavery and read the credible souces) Black people are physically stronger than any opther race..Africans where getting on with life and not expecting a war when the white men cam ein and invaded and stole people by force from their homes with the use of whips and gunz and all kinds of sophisticated tools the african man cld not understand. The chiefs decided to sell as that put a limit on the amount of people and maltreated. The white men would have taken the africans anyway. They would either buy them or take them by force.Buying them moderated the numbers and also reduced the cruelty.Does that answer ur question?

White man did not introduce slavery. They just gave it a new meaning. Black folks were enslaved thousands of years before this in ancient Africa by their own kind. The Egyptians had white slaves even. Remember the story of the famous white prophet Moses. "Let my people go!" The Chinese had their own version of slavery. They did not have any black people in China. The Ancient Hindu Maharajahs had their own version of slavery. And these guys were all Brown.
Slavery was already very old-fashioned by the time it came to America. It was a part and parcel of every civilization before the discovery of American. The difference was that these slaves were snatched away from their own people, land, and culture as they were shipped across the ocean as cargo. So perhaps this was a new twist to the experience but not slavery per se.

Cherokees and other Indians were also kept as "servants" by whites in northern georgia/carolina prior to and after the trail of tears time. I'm sure some Africans did fight, and probably evaded encapturement. At first, they might not have thought it was a real bad deal, but really what could they do? A spear can't win over a rifle.

Of the African natives brought to the Americas, only 10% where brought to the U.S. The other 90% were taken to various other countries in South and Central America and the Caribbean Islands. All of whom were freed without a bloody war. And of course you are right. Can you imagine trying to control 50 Apache slaves. I don't think so.......

Here is my question.
How many Native Americans do you know today? How many were alive in 1500 and how many are alive now? They were treated worst than the Buffalo, And how many Buffalo did we have in 1500 and how many do we have now?
But you know what, there is no such thing as a stupid question. Just stupid people who ask questions.
But i do commend you on point out the fact that the White man was wrong for treating others in that manner.

Slavery in Africa was a lot different than slavery in America. Slavery in Africa was basically indentured servitude. You owed a debt so you work for some guy for free until you pay back that debt, or you were captured in war. Either way you were treated with respect and dignity. When the Europeans offered to buy slaves from Africans it was understood that they would be treated the same way. But white people believe in capitalism and other such things and their moral standard was lower. Damned shame isn't it. After some time the White people decided that they no longer wanted to pay for slaves since a Black is a Black and they just started kidnapping anybody they came accross.

Wow, you are making my day.
Here's what .... you are sleeping in your little straw hut at night with your wife and kids then..... ... BRAM. Your hut is on fire, you carry your family outside only to come face to face with a white man with a whip and a gun... You fight, but guess what you lose cause he is more powerful, has better weapons than you and jus killed your family. You are taken miles across a dark ocean tied together like cattle, people all around you die. When you get up on deck, half the ship throws themselves overboard.
You are carried to a strange land made to work with whips, scourging and torture everytime you fight .... and then couple hundred years later some idiot says you allowed yourselves to be captured.
Dude... let me put it to you this way.. both Indians and Africans died in great numbers... BOTH of them fought. Hell yeah there were Indian slaves... and who isnt dead now is living on some reservation. BOTH races are still fighting the White Man and are still enslaved to them. If you look up the meaning of enslaved it means against one's will.
So hear what read a book or somethiong dont ask questions in ignorance and please watch Amistad or Roots... I hope you cry so much you cant breath at the end.

When you have to use chains, shackles, whips, starvation techniques, it doesn't indicate a lot of volunteering to me. Also, if you look into the history of South and Central America, you'll see lots of enslavement of the Native Americans. In North America there was some, especially where women were concerned.
If you had studied any African history, you'ld notice that they put up a good fight there as well.
You need to broaden your history background quite a bit.
