IT HAS INCREASED IN THE SENSE THAT NEW WORDS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE VOBULARY SUCH AS 911 OR PHAT. IT HAS DWINDLED IN THE SENSE THAT PEOPLE IN GENERAL USE A VERY LIMITED VOCABULARY, OFTEN SUBSTITUTING DEROGATORY WORDS THAT DO NOT FIT IN MEANING AT ALL.

Professor Grey is right on target. People are using words now that didn't exist 20 years ago. Words like "blog." But, their ability to use words of distinct meaning has decreased. A phrase like, "The rustic cabin was nestled in the dense forest." Is now, "The old house was stuck in the woods." And of course, the use of expletives (Uh, that's cuss words) has increased dramatically.
