Richest, yet most compassionate country in the world proven by the amount of money that individual Americans contribute around the globe and government contributions as well

Good political system with checks and balances to spread power base amongst the different branches of government
Technological advances in everything from computers to health care
Low unemployment
highest productivity of all nations
Top 5% pay 70 to 80% of taxes
People of all nations come to live in the US more than any other country in pursuit of the American dream.

I am proud to be American because I have been to countries and am currently in a country where my religion is not tolerated, people are constantly killed because of their version of the tolerated religion, people's actions and feeling are repressed because of the teachings of this religion, and as an American I volunteered to come over here and help those people. You don't see the French doing that do you?

because our country was built on the issue of freedom from tyrannical rule
we have a history of standing up for democracy
we are the greatest and the strongest nation in the world
we have had inspirational leaders as president and in other levels of the government
our leaders are elected by the people to serve the people
our country is the nation of nations, allowing all races and religions entry into our country
it is a land of opportunity for all

Many people are proud of be Americans because being proud of something is human instinct. Allying yourself with something increases the probability of survival and so ability to ally with others is preserved throughout human evolution.
