After spending many years allowing myself to get angry at situations outside of my control I learned that being tollerant and understanding of people brings massive rewards. For example if two people stand toe to toe and scream at each other there are two likely outcomes. Physical violence ( and I know this from many bitter experiences) or someone feeling enraged because they think they lost the arguement. The reality is you both lost. If the same two people stand toe to toe and one person decides to conceed from the outset and be nice the likelihood is the other person, after much screaming, will submit and ending up seeing the other persons point of view. And probably end up apologising. Both people will be happier with the outcome. A word of caution though, some people will still hit you but at least you tried! What I am saying, in a nutshell, is by positively praising someone - even an enemy - you can change most peoples behaviour. If this doesn't work then probably they are beyond help.

As the name implies, this approach focuses on behavior-changing unwanted behaviors through rewards, reinforcements, and desensitization. Desensitization, or Exposure Therapy, is a process of confronting something that arouses anxiety, discomfort, or fear and overcoming the unwanted responses. Behavioral therapy often involves the cooperation of others, especially family and close friends, to reinforce a desired behavior
