If he is still on formula you could add less water to his formula for instance if you are using powder formula is says 3 scoops for a 180 mL bottle try just adding 2 or if you use liquid formula it says a can of formula and the exact same amount of water but try adding only 250mL of water my daughter was under weight and her dietician told me to do this because they will get more calories from their milk and they will gain more weight.

For some reason I have small babies as well. My daughter is going to be 3 and she only weighs 24lbs. Some kids are just different. As long as you are feeding him good I wouldn't worry about it. The doctor might want his weight up with the kids around his age, but unless there is concern of a medical condition, then I wouldn't worry about it. You can't make a child eat. My kids are 5 and 3 and I can't make them eat either. But I do monitor their sweet intake and put healthy food in front of them. Ask your doctor if there is a reason why he is worried about the weight. Don't be afraid to ask. Good luck and I'm sure your son will be fine.

I am not sure to what 8.5kg. is in lbs. apparently he is under weight if he should be 10kg. It seems that he would only be 1.5lbs. under weight. That isn't too bad. If he is a picky eater maybe you can try to give him some milk shakes ? Either from McDonald's or, you can make them yourself. Shakes or malts have a lot of calories in them so that would put on the lbs. If your Dr. isn't concerned about it then he'll be alright because all kids go through a phase were they won't eat or are very picky eaters. They will eat when they get hungry. Just keep an eye on his weight to make sure that he isn't loosing any. Good luck to you and get the advice of your Dr. and he can prescribe a diet that is high in calories and he'll put on weight in no time.

MY SON WAS 9 WHEN HE WAS 1. HE ALSO DIDN'T LIKE EATING AT ALL. IF HE IS LIVELY, LIKES TO PLAY AND LOOKS HEALTHY- THEN DON'T WORRY. HE WILL START EATING HIMSELF. WHAT I DID WAS AROUND THE AGE OF 20 MONTHS, I GAVE UP TRYING TO MAKE MY SON EAT HIS FOOD AT ANY PRICE. I LEFT HIM TELL ME WHEN HE IS HUNGRY. SO LIKE A MIRACLE HE STARTED ASKING FOR FOOD 5-6 TIMES A DAY EVEN LATE AT NIGHT BEFORE BED. SO THE KGS ARE NOOT THE MOST IMPORTANT IN THE RIGHT DEVELOPMENT OF A KID. TRY TO OFFER HIM MORE OF THE FOODS HE LIKES, BUT DON'T FORSE HIM TO EAT COS HE WILL START ACCEPTING EATING AS SMTH UNPLEASANT HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE DOING. TAKE YOUR TIME.

Every baby is different, is your baby eating well? Has your baby got a small frame as that would make him lighter. Is your Dr concerned?
