I disagree. If God was not the kind of person I could enjoy as a friend I would rather go to hell than spend eternity with Him. As for already being in Hell I guess we all have pockets of pain in our life that seem like hell and it does re-focus us on spiritual matters. We tend to ask why just after a tragedy so you have a point but the attraction to me at the age of 21 when I decided to become a Christian was simply the hope that God would be the one friend that would never let me down. Good question.

Disagree. Religion is for those who accept the Word of God and attempt to live their lives in accordance to His Will. This does not mean that those who follow a religion are not spiritual. Lately, I've seen "spirituality" bandied about as if it were different from or superior to religion. I do not think this is true, but I think spirituality without religion can sometimes lead to worshipping a god created by the worshippers imagination. Not to say that this doesn't happen in religion, where sometimes people worship a god created by a charismatic leader's imagination. I'm not referring to those true Prophets of God such as Jesus, Baha'u'llah, Mohammad, etc. who lead people to God, but to those charismatic leaders like Jim Jones who lead people astray.
Many of those who are involved in religion have already seen hell. And many of those involved in "spirituality" have not.

I've been fairly convinced for a long time, since I was a child when I rejected the religion of my parents and grand parents and great grand parents and on and on, that we live in hell and that religion is a shadow of spirituality, but since this is hell where I live, we're all spiritually not and it's just here mocking us. Church is such a cartoon and that includes christians and spiritualists alike. You don't visit hell; you are either in hell or you are not.

Disagree, to a point. Religion can also be a conduit for pride and self-gratification. Spirituality can evolve from curiosity and not unpleasant life experiences.

Not all religions believe in hell. Im Wiccan and the faith I follow dont believe in a hell.
So I dont believe in that statement.
Spirituality is for those who have been there? No. This one is hard to explain.
When your spiritual it makes you feel good about yourself and what you do.
Depending on what you do.
Say, I meditate, I feel relaxed and so much better inside afterwards.
You dont need a religion to be spiritual.
But everyone has their different thoughts and beliefs.
Happy Holidays!

i believe that religion is for those who are scared of going to hell, having the need for rules and regulations
spirituality on the other hand is more concerned with my personal relationship with my higher power, getting to to know him, getting to know all about him, talking to him, listening to him
i can't help but wonder: do atheists have spirituality? i think they do. they must believe there is a power greater than themselves and as they try to get to know this power greater than themselves, they have spirituality

Hell is indeed a scary place and I certainly would not want to go there, and as for spirituality there is nothing greater to be in this life, you seem to prefer cynicism and that is so empty.

You need to get a clue and get into the Word.
There is NO one who alive who has been to hell. Be certain that hell is no place to be and a place of eternal suffering of which there is NO return.
I personally would not wish that on anyone!

Not everyone who claims to be "spiritual" has been to Hell, but you are almost right. Hell is a state of mind, the religious tend to believe Hell is an actual place.
