My wife says jogging is bad for her, something about giggling her uterus. HaHa. High impact exercise can be bad for your joints. I heard about some roid monkey trying to squat some ridiculous amount of weight and his intestines came oout his bum hole. I don't think that's very good for you.

You should point out in your essay that whilst there are more benefits than drawbacks to exercise, the consequences of not exercising properly can be severe.

Exercise is only dangerous if you overdo it, (often done by people taking part in sports such as football etc. without warming up properly) take exercise if you have been drinking, if you feel unwell (anything worse than a slight cold), or if you do the exercises in the wrong way e.g. weightlifting. Even simple stretches may put your back out if you don't do it properly.

It is advisable for the average person to exercise for up to an hour every three to four days, and no more than six times a week, unless you are training for something such as a marathon. If you are unsure about which exercises would be suitable for different aims aims (depending on what you want to do; weight lifting is good for building muscles, and cardio-vascular exercise, such as aerobics, is good for weight loss and general fitness), then ask a qualified gym instructor, or look fitness up in your library.

Good luck on your essay. Here are some thoughts:

Exercise is bad for you. It makes you lose weight and be healthy. If people are healthy, they won't need as much medical care. So if you're a doctor or nurse, exercise is bad for you.

Exercise is bad for you. It makes you a happier person. And being happy makes you do things like have positive relationships and want to go out socializing. You won't stay at home and watch as much TV. So if you're in the TV industry, exercise is bad for you.

Exercise is bad for you. It gives you the energy to clean your house or chop firewood. You are not lazy when you exercise. So, if you depend on income from doing jobs that other people are too lazy to do, exercise is bad for you.

Exercise is bad for you. It makes you crave healthy foods rather than ice cream, potato chips, and donuts. So if you're Ben, Jerry, or Mr. Hagaan-Daz, exercise is bad for you.

You get the idea...

Trying to do too much of it can lead to muscle strains...... and is also known to screw-up women's menstrual cycles (so I've heard).

Jogging / running on hard surfaces can cause ligament damage + other injuries over time.

Doing alot while overweight or extremely out of shape can lead to heart attacks.

Doing exercise without warming up first can also lead to getting injured.

I know from Winter Cross country sessions when I went to school it sure as hell doesn't do you much good if you have Asthma.

And I'd guess Tennis / Squash / Golf / Cricket / Baseball / Badminton could lead to developping RSI / Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from repetitive wrist movements.

Cycling can also lead to serious injury, or even death if you fall off the bike (or get knocked off by a car of course).

If you don't warm up, or wind down properly, that can lead to injuries.
Bad training regimes can cause problems - my sister developed shoulder problems that way - because if you overdevelop one muscle, than the one that makes a limb move in the opposite direction can be weakened.
Bad training regimes in certain sports can result in induced deformity of the spine or scoliosis as it is called. (Scoliosis is the name of the curve).
This gives you a start - it would be a good idea to provide a description of how muscles work in opposition, giving examples.
Ditto for the type of sport that induces scoliosis, and for the type of injury resulting from failure to warm up properly .
Also you need to look at the problem of how fit a person is to begin with and maybe the types of injury certain types of sport causes e.g. tennis elbow
Hope this helps.

My Grandparents both lived sedentary lives and lived into there late 80s. Jogging on bumpy or hard surfaces can damage your knees. Charles Atlas died from too much exercise. A few years ago I read about a jogger who died when a wall fell on him at 6am in the morning. Swimming can cause ear problems. You can strain your chest with spring chest expander's.!!!

Have a look at thing such as badly overweight trying to do too much too quick (leading to heart attack), and the stresses that jogging puts on the joints.

if you watch some people at the gym they use the equipment in the wrong way which can be back for you, forexample using weights that are too heavy therefore causing strains.
some gyms don't have properly qualified or trained Trainers, therefore putting everyone at risk

If you're malnourished or underweight then excercise is definately not the best thing to do for the moments time. Other than that.. I can't think of any other way on how excercise is bad for you.
